Gasoline earth auger without auger bit (also GD-004) GGD-004

The GIGANT earth drill bores holes in soil and ice. The 68 cc two-stroke engine is unusually dependable, working efficiently on modest fuel consumption over a long service life.

• The 2.2 kW output allows augers up to 250 mm in diameter.
• The engine is air-cooled, so it can run for long periods without overheating.
• Metal handles resist deformation.

The earth drill is intended for boring wells and ice holes, and for holes to plant trees or set fence posts. The tool runs on a 25:1 mixture of 92-octane gasoline and two-stroke oil.

Before you start:

• Assessing the ground: Determine the soil type and density. Soft soil - full power, hard soil - drill with care. Pay particular attention to frozen ground and hard inclusions.
• Choosing the tooling: Match the auger to the soil type (soft, hard, stony) and choose the extension according to the depth required and the rigidity needed.
• Weather conditions: Allow for the effect of low temperatures and high humidity.

Drilling:

• Starting out: Start at low speed, feeding the auger in smoothly. If the drive is overloaded, reduce the feed pressure or increase the speed.
• Drilling hard ground: Work in short passes and clear the auger as you go. If you hit an obstruction, change the drilling angle or move to another spot. Use a tapping technique and loosen the ground first if necessary.
• Using an extension: Make sure the extension is securely fastened. Drill in stages and do not let the string go off axis. Check the welds regularly.
• Withdrawing the auger: Pull the auger out smoothly. If it jams, reverse the rotation or loosen the ground around it.

Safety:

• Make sure there are no underground utilities in the drilling area.
• Wear safety goggles and gloves.
• Avoid binding and jamming during operation.
• Service the equipment regularly.
• Do not exceed the recommended drilling depth.
• Clean and lubricate the equipment after use.
• Store in a dry place.
